Dentures and Partials
DENTURES
Dentures, also called "false teeth" or "a plate", are made when a person is missing all of their teeth.
When dentures are made you can customize your dentures by choosing the colour, shade, position, shape, etc.
Types of Dentures:
- Conventional Full Dentures - made of acrylic and replace all of your missing teeth.
- Immediate Dentures - your dentures are placed in your mouth the same day you get your teeth extracted. These dentures will need to be relined in the future when the gums and bone heal completely (can be around 6 months).
- Implant Supported Dentures - a full denture that snaps onto or clips onto 2 or more implants.
Even if you wear full dentures, you still must take good care of your mouth. It is important to brush your gums, tongue and palate to stimulate circulation in your tissues and help remove plaque. Remove your denture overnight and soak in water or a denture cleaner to loosen plaque or tartar build up.

PARTIALS
Partials are designed to fill in the spaces created by missing teeth and to prevent other teeth from shifting or changing position.
Types of Partials:
- Conventional Cast Partial Dentures - made of acrylic teeth and acrylic gums over a metal framework/substructure.
2. Acrylic Partial Dentures - are sometimes used for the transitional period during healing after teeth have been extracted. These can also be called immediate partials. They are a cost effective alternative to conventional partials. They may or may not contain metal clasps that help keep the partial in place.
